Access to MalariaGEN genotype data

The primary purpose of Phase 1 of MalariaGEN is to identify genetic variants which confer protection against, or increase the susceptibility to, the onset of severe malaria, through implementation and analysis of large-scale genome-wide association studies. Additional objectives include the identification and understanding of challenges faced in the conduct of large-scale genetic epidemiological studies in the context of African and other malaria-endemic countries.

The Consortium anticipates that data generated from the project will be used by others, such as required for developing new analytical methods, in understanding patterns of polymorphism and in guiding selection of markers to map genes involved in specific diseases.

Access to individual-level genotype data is available by application to the MalariaGEN Independent Data Access Committee. Access to data will be granted to qualified investigators for appropriate use. For further information please see the MalariaGEN Data Release Policy.
