Gareth Maslen

Gareth Maslen is a principal programmer based at Sanger. He provides programming and database support for MalariaGEN's genotyping, statistics, and sample handling teams at Sanger and Oxford.

After completing his DPhil in Genetics at University of Oxford in 1994, Gareth joined the newly established Sanger Institute to develop human genetic mapping databases. He then moved to the biotechnology sector, working in the startup firms Hexagen and Incyte before becoming the head of informatics at Lorantis. He returned to Sanger in 2003 as the informatics project manager for the Atlas of Protein Expression program, before joining the Kwiatkowski group in 2007.
