
Amagana Dolo

Amagana Dolo is a MalariaGEN Investigator and Professor of Parasitology and Mycology, Chair of the Department of Fundamental Sciences, Faculty of Medicine and Odonto-Stomatology, University of Bamako. He has a PharmD Degree and a PhD.
He has been working with Professor Doumbo since 1986 in the field of epidemiology of parasitic diseases mainly on malaria, intestinal parasites, opportunist parasites. He carried out several sero-epidemiological studies on anti-TRAP (Thrombospondin Related Adhesive Protein) and on anti-CS (Circum-Sporozoite Protein) in Mali. He has contributed to the assessment of biologic parameters and sero-epidemiology studies of anti-A MA1 and anti-MSP1 antibodies in preparation for future malaria vaccine trials in Mali.
For 10 years he has been carrying out studies on the difference in susceptibility to malaria between two sympatric ethnic groups in Mali in collaboration with Professor Marita Troye-Blomberg (Stockholm) and Professor Coluzzi and Modiano (Rome, Italy) to identify possible determinants of resistance to malaria related to ethnic differences.
