The Genome Science Center at Tanzania's Sokoine University in Morogoro was established by an international consortium led by Patrick Duffy. The consortium, funded by the Grand Challenges in Global Health initiative, is working to identify the immune responses that protect African children from severe malaria.
As an initiative to strengthen capacity for genome science in East Africa the centre includes microarray fabrication and analysis capabilities.
