Ousmane Toure is a MalariaGEN Data Fellow based in Mali. He joined the Malaria Research and Training Centre in 1997 where he is currently the Head of the Bio-informatics Units. He has worked closely with specialists at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the US to manage data from large epidemiological studies conducted as part of an NIH Tropical Medicine Research Center Program grant. This included installing a LAN that is directly linked to the intramural NIH network. He also works closely with the Data Management, Biostatistics and Epidemiology Units to manage databases.

In 2003 he completed a master's degree in Biostatistics and Informatics at the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, Tulane University, New Orleans. Since September 2006 Ousmane has been a MalariaGen Data Fellow. This has enabled him to improve his capacity to understand, manage and analyse genomic data to look for protective factors against severe malaria. He will start a PhD in Biostatistics at the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, Tulane University in January 2009.

Ousmane and his colleagues at the Malaria Research and Training Centre in Mali are contributing to Consortial Project 1, Consortial Project 2 and Consortial Project 3. More >>
