Patrick Duffy is Director of the Malaria Program at the Seattle Biomedical Research Institute and leads an International Malaria Research Training Program for young African scientists. He coordinates two international consortia to develop vaccines for pregnant women and young children. He is the lead investigator in a Grand Challenges in Global Health grant from the Gates Foundation, targeted at identifying the immune responses that prevent severe disease and death due to Plasmodium falciparum malaria.
