
Prapat Suriyaphol

Prapat Suriyaphol is the MalariaGEN Senior Data Fellow for Asia Region. He holds a PhD. degree in Biochemistry and did postdoctoral research in the field of cellular and molecular biology for 4 years at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in Germany. He then shifted to Bioinformatics and for 3 years developed SNP database and analysis systems at the Centre National de Genotypage in France. During his stay in France, he also worked with Dr. Anavaj Sakuntabhai at the Institut Pasteur on a Thai malaria cohort and later joined the MalariaGEN team.
Prapat is currently the director of Bioinformatics and Data Management for the Research Unit at the Faculty of Medicine, Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand. His main interest is human genome-wide association studies and pathogen variation.
