Plasmodium falciparum data releases
31 May 2012
Two MalariaGEN community projects have released new genomic data on P. falciparum today.
The population genomics P. falciparum project has announced a new major release (2.0) of genotype data to project partners. In this release 1,591 parasite DNA samples from 33 partner studies were analysed. A total of 421,613 SNPs passed all quality filters and could be reliably genotyped in the majority of samples. The genotype data have been delivered to partners, and we'll be releasing an aggregated analysis of the data later in the year.
Also, the P. falciparum genetic crosses project has announced a first release (0.1) of genotype data to project partners. This release contains genotype data specifically on the P. falciparum genetic crosses, using a probabilistic genotyping method which yields more segregating sites with greater accuracy than previously available.
